This volume presents the annotated catalogue of the documented production of Newlamp, a Roman company that, in the brief period between 1969 and 1973, created no fewer than fifty-five lamp models – true luminous works of art. With their ingenious and innovative shapes and geometries, these creations left an indelible mark on the history of design.
Following over fifteen years of meticulous research that became a passionate journey, Paolo Borromeo d’Adda has skillfully reconstructed the intricate trajectory of Newlamp’s intense history. Overcoming numerous challenges, he uncovered the secrets that, for fifty years, had surrounded the work of the company founded by visionary entrepreneur and designer Mario Vento – a small firm that, from humble beginnings, managed in just two years to win the Europremio for Furniture and Interior Design (1971).
Several of Italy’s most renowned architects and designers contributed to the success of this entrepreneurial venture, including Gianfranco Fini, Fabrizio Cocchia, Gianni Colombo, and Giuseppe Ravasio.
