Reflection on the landscape is at the heart of the poetic imagination of Franco Fontana, whose work has always aimed to show the enigma of the invisible hidden in the visible.
Photography, in fact, is the tool through which he captures the nonexistent of what is real, always hovering between representation of the real and the so-called true. Fontana’s work thus represents an analysis of seeing understood as an imaginative and cognitive activity: his intentions are not limited to documenting the appearance of the places or figures he immortalizes, nor to an idea of the image only as an aesthetic object. On the contrary, he proposes a reflection that, while taking reality into account, also contemplates a reevaluation of perception through photography.
