[Author: Paola Pellandini].
Rovereto’s MART pays tribute to its creator, architect Mario Botta (Mendrisio, 1943), author of the project with the collaboration of engineer Giulio Andreolli, with a major exhibition documented in this catalog. The volume re-presents about sixty of Botta’s most significant works over many years of successful professional activity. Introducing the publication is an unpublished account by Botta on the suggestions and memories of artists and events that left a deep mark on his formation as a man and as an architect. The volume, with numerous critical contributions, is complemented by biobibliographical apparatus.

The MART in Rovereto pays tribute to its creator, architect Mario Botta (Mendrisio, 1943), author of the project with the collaboration of engineer Giulio Andreolli, with a major exhibition documented in this catalog.
Botta’s architectural itinerary, which finds its origins in the interpretation of the tradition of the Modern Movement, is configured today as a critical point of reference with respect to the fragility of the models and fashions offered by globalization: his projects embody essential forms that shape the living space of man and that, respecting the functions to which they must respond, aspire to offer unprecedented emotions.
The volume reproposes about sixty of Botta’s most significant works from his many years of successful professional activity, documented with original sketches and models, photographs and unpublished drawings: from the first single-family houses, original expressions of the Ticino school, to the large public buildings, libraries, theaters, museums and spaces of the sacred, created all over the world.
Special attention is given to lesser-known topics such as theater sets, exhibition layouts, and design objects.
Introducing the publication is an unpublished account by Botta on the suggestions and memories of artists and events that left a deep mark on his formation as a man and as an architect. The volume, with numerous critical contributions, is complemented by biobibliographical apparatus.

Through his commitment and passion, Pizzi expanded its business by publishing books of enormous value. In the mid-90s, Silvana redefined its publishing strategy, embarking on a path of growth and development on the national and international markets, focused on the fields of art, design, architecture and photography, all of which is documented in the on-site catalogue. Today, Silvana Editoriale publishes more than 400 titles a year in collaboration with Foundations, Research Institutes, Universities and Museums across Europe, the United States and the Middle East.
