1. Caleido is a sort of Diary. What is the most significant memory/anecdote, related to your brand, that you would note in your Diary?
Certainly the first participation in the Fuori Salone in Milan at Superstudio. I was born as a rug designer and therefore the dimension to which I was accustomed was mainly linked to the product. I clearly remember that episode: participating in an event of that magnitude put me in touch with interesting people from all over the world, definitely changing my perspective on my work: from designer I had become a brand. Thinking back to that specific moment, I remember a great emotion that in projection turned out to be the occasion to make myself known to the public.

2. If you had to associate your brand with a song, what would it be? Would you listen to it on vinyl or Spotify?
I was lucky enough to grow up in a time of great change, and among those changes was the transition from vinyl to the first CDs. Now everything is digital, more convenient and faster, but the charm of the vinyl sound is unparalleled. Imperfect, just like manual work. And it is precisely in imperfection that authentic fascination is born and develops. A song that could identify me is “Where The Streets Have No Name” by U2. Travelling often between India, Nepal and Turkey, sometimes I really have the impression of walking in places where the streets have no name.
3. Speaking instead about yourself, how do other people most often describe you? What are the passions, beyond your work, that inspire you most?
As they say in my neck of the woods, they call me “un bon toso” a good guy. I try to be available to anyone who asks me for help and I always do it gladly. I really like sports and lately I’ve become very fond of Paddle (a kind of tennis). But my greatest passion remains traveling, especially to destinations that take me to a dimension completely different from the one I live in.
Matteo Pala, founder of @matteo_pala_tappeti
A family history, a passion and an experience that oscillate between tradition and experimentation, the fascination for distant lands and the continuous search for personal and customized solutions: from all this comes what today Matteo Pala has transformed into a true center specialized in the design, creation and care of the carpet. A “custom oriented” project in which Matteo follows each phase: design, implementation, selection of materials to achieve the best result, shipping, consulting for the perfect preservation of quality over the years and possibly restoration, so that this experience remains unique over time.
